“The Name of Dreams”
February 22 (Sat) – March 9 (Sun), 2025
11:00 – 17:00
Indigo creatures, born from dreams
A forest where floating humans and beasts play
Gallery Kasper is pleased to present the fourth solo exhibition of Naoko Kurotsuka.
Kurotsuka’s practice has recently transitioned from video art to ceramics.
It expresses a world between humans andanimals, through shades of blue inspired by indigo dye.
Her works feature staircases, trees, and mountains with windows and doors, creating an intricate world of layers and passageways.
Kurotsuka works recall an experience from her early life, when she was invited to the hermitage of a person who had carved out a cave-like dwelling within a rocky mountain.
To enter the mountain, both in body and consciousness.
For Kurotsuka, this experience felt like connecting with the memory of the earth, a dream circuit linking the planet’s ancient recollections with her own body.
This exhibition’s ‘blue world,’ where dreams and reality dissolve into one another, unveils another realm where humans and animals intertwine and share consciousness.
We invite you to step into this dreamlike space.
